OVERVIEW

Designing a Brand for the Product, Not Just the Packaging

For most companies, a logo is designed to live on websites, presentations, social media, and packaging.

For a hardware company, it carries a far greater responsibility.

It becomes part of the product itself.

It is molded into plastic, engraved into metal, laser-marked onto glass, embossed onto fabric, and reproduced across thousands of manufactured units. Long after individual product generations evolve, the logo remains the most enduring representation of the brand, becoming a symbol that customers see, touch, and interact with every day.

When Dusq approached us to develop their brand identity ahead of their US launch, we viewed the challenge through a different lens. Rather than designing a logo purely as a marketing asset, we designed it as a manufacturing asset, one that would perform consistently across both digital and physical applications.

Every element of the identity was evaluated beyond visual appeal. Stroke thicknesses, corner radii, spacing, scalability, and geometric proportions were carefully refined to ensure the mark could withstand the realities of production across a wide variety of materials and manufacturing processes. Whether laser etched into aluminum, molded into polymer components, printed on packaging, or reproduced digitally, the identity was engineered to retain clarity and consistency.

The symbol itself was developed alongside the product architecture instead of being applied after the hardware had been designed. Rather than placing a logo onto the product, the icon was shaped to integrate naturally into the physical form, aligning with the constraints of the charging interface and becoming part of the overall design language. This holistic approach allowed the brand to feel inherent to the product instead of appearing as an afterthought.

The visual identity extends across packaging, digital experiences, and physical touchpoints, creating a cohesive system that supports Dusq's ambition of entering the global wellness technology market with a confident and premium presence.

This project reflects a philosophy we strongly believe in at Dotform. For companies building physical products, branding and industrial design should never exist in isolation. The strongest identities are conceived alongside the product itself, where every visual decision considers not only how the brand will be seen, but also how it will be manufactured, experienced, and remembered.

Because for a product company, a logo is not simply something people recognize.

It is something they hold in their hands.
